I often feel the need to convey information about and reverence for nature and here I have done it again in this little series of mini mixed media pieces. The idea is to focus on herbs/plants that are specific to healing that part of the body. This brings together things I love: anatomy, nature, beauty and healing!!

This is a piece that I recently completed that was inspired by dealing with emotions around huge old trees being cut down and wetlands being destroyed in our pristine valley to build a bypass. Sometimes celebrating beauty and feeling loss come together in one piece, such as here. Hope you enjoy "Hamadryad"

I was recently overcome with a passion to create a series of Miniature watercolors that I am calling my "Ode to Art Nouveau" series. Art Nouveau is one of my favorite art movements, along with Surrealism and the Pre-Raphaelite and many others!!! I absolutely adore the flowing curvilinear lines and nature elements that are so prevalent in this style of art, as well as the obvious bent toward the feminine. As I walk outside and through the garden I am so moved by the beauty and the inspiration that I get from every little thing around me...so I create!
There is also one of my "Mon Coeur" series pieces (in the works) hidden in this photo as well!

Just back from Andes in Peru and all I can think about is rocks and paintings of rocks!! So much inspiration from that visit and I can't wait to see how it manifests in my work. My other inspirations right now are the amazing things happening in my garden: Swallowtails on Verbena, Anna's Hummingbirds on red Monarda all day, every day and the water lilies blooming in my ponds(photo by my daughter Hannah Kirchiro)! So much beauty in the world, let's focus on and celebrate that!!
